Force,
Incorporated of Christiansburg, Virginia began in 1978 as a small, family-run business
contracting secondary assembly jobs for large local manufacturers. In 1982, the company
began developing and manufacturing fiber optic products, and the growth was astounding.
Today, Force manufactures electronic components for many sophisticated commercial and
military applications. Force offers over 200 top quality fiber optic products for the
world's most demanding audio, video, and data telecommunications applications. Force is
located in Christiansburg, Virginia in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Christiansburg is located 28 miles south of Roanoke, Virginia off Interstate 81 South. The
company is a convenient 11 miles from Blacksburg, Virginia, home of Virginia Tech.
With the March 1998 acquisition of the Comlux® series digital video transmission
equipment from C-COR Electronics, Inc. of State College, Pennsylvania, Force expanded its
facilities to both coasts. To accommodate the added product line, a second Christiansburg
facility was opened in late March 1998, and a branch office of Force, Inc. in Livermore
California opened in April 1998.
Force also specializes in custom design of communications systems. With strong fiber optic
development capabilities, Force takes on significant design challenges and succeeds in
developing systems with the highest possible performance-to-cost ratio. Success has been
built on the ability to create a good, simple-to-use design the first time and manufacture
the resulting product with quality. In recognition of these successes, Force has been
awarded such honors as the Boeing Company President's Award, the U.S. Small Business
Administrator's Award for Excellence, the U.S. Small Business Administration Small
Business Subcontractor of the Year, and the TRW Defense Communications Division New
Subcontractor of the Year. These successes have also garnered an impressive customer list
for the company.
