Optronics International Corporation was founded in 1996 by Dr. C.J. Hwang along with private investors to develop and manufacture laser diodes for telecommunications, data communications, medical, industrial and consumer applications. OIC's goal is to replace the electronic-based systems and conventional optics with more powerful and efficient laser solutions.

With the technological leadership of Dr. C.J. Hwang, OIC's operation team was formed by a group of high-caliber staff whose accumulated experience in the fabrication of laser diodes exceeds 100 years. Most obtaining their Ph.D. degrees in the related fields from the United States, these technical experts have abundant knowledge in the vertical integration of the laser diode for the growing field of applications. This valuable heritage enabled OIC's team to develop and manufacture unique laser diode products of their own and brought the company the unprecedented ability to compete with the internationally known LD firms.  Focusing not only on manufacturing, OIC also invests a lot in advanced product research & development in order to yield new products every year. With sales to more than 30 countries, currently, OIC carries a broad selection of laser diode products with wavelengths ranging form 630 to 2000nm categorized into three major product lines:

Visible(650nm)lasers and modules: mainly targeted for uses in laser pointers, scanners and DVD pickup heads

Communication(1310nm) lasers, detectors and their value-added transceivers: aiming at the high volume local fiber optic signal distribution

High power (630-2000nm) lasers: designed for solid-state laser pumping, medical surgery and photodynamic therapy.

OIC's laser products are now widely applied in various industries from information, communication and medicine… etc.
