PD-LD, Inc. has developed various types of fiber-coupled packaging to produce reliable devices for many applications - including optical communications and test equipment, sensors, and medical - in standard and custom packages.

Our products include:

- Fiber-Coupled Coaxial Lasers & LEDs:
PD-LD stocks a variety of standard devices at wavelengths from the visible to the near-infrared (630 - 1625 nm). Either standard receptacles (SC, FC, & ST) or single-mode (3/125, 5/125 or 9/125) or multimode (50/125, 62.5/125 & 100/140) fiber-pigtailed devices are offered. Power options range from 1 - 20 mW and up.

- High Power 0.5 - 1.5 Watt Fiber-Coupled Lasers:
PD-LD provides high power laser diodes in an uncooled, high-heat-load package with a fiber pigtail. Coupled power efficiencies of 50 - 70% are achieved with 200/240 all-glass 0.22 NA multimode fiber. Standard wavelength is 808 nm; however, wavelengths from 760 - 1060 nm are available.

- Fiber-Coupled Photodiodes & APDs:
PD-LD offers InGaAs, Silicon, GaAs and Germanium PIN detectors & Silicon APDs in a variety of receptacles or fiber-pigtailed designs. Low back reflection singlemode pigtailed devices are offered for CATV and instrumentation.

- BiDirectional WDM Modules:
PD-LD's compact modules combine a 1310 or 1550 nm laser diode with a detector in a single device, allowing bidirectional communications over a single fiber. Both  lasers and detectors used are high-reliability InGaAsP components.

- Laser Light Source for Inspection:
For inspection of connector, fiber or lens assemblies, PD-LD offers a visible 635 nm laser in a small 9V battery or AC-powered portable package. Other laser wavelengths or E/S-LEDs are available. A pigtail with connector or collimator can adapt the output of the laser to suit other applications.

- Collimators & Free-Space or Collimated Pigtailed Lasers:
PD-LD offers fixed and adjustable fiber optic collimators which produce a circular, collimated beam. Fiber pigtailed collimators can be directly attached to a laser diode or lasers can be combined with lenses for free-space collimation.

- Variable & Fixed Attenuators:
PD-LD's variable attenuator connector (VAC) is available in two types: the   standard FC & ST VAC has an attenuation range of 0 - 30 dB; the FC & SC differential (DVAC) version offers finer adjustment between 0.5 - 3 dB and 0 - 20 dB range. The VAC & DVAC have been used in WDM & DWDM systems. Our fixed attenuators are available at standard attenuation levels - 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 & 30 dB - or a selected range; and they have low (-55 dB SM) back reflection.

PD-LD Inc. is a member company of POEM (Center for Photonic & Optoelectronic Materials) consortium, headed by Princeton University. PD-LD has partcipated in several government contracts to develop highly advanced photonic materials and devices - such as high bandwidth fiber optic modulator based on non-linear organic materials, organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs), and high power lasers.
