University - Fiber Optic Materials Research Program We
are a University group with research areas in photonics and fiber optics.
We have extensive facilities that include 2 oxide draw towers and 1
non-oxide draw tower. We also have a complete MCVD and OVD facility. We
can contract custom orders.

Academic
and research specialties: Advanced optical materials, optical waveguides,
infrared transmitting optical fibers, fiber optic sensors, fibers for
biomedical applications, specialized fiber coatings, optical power
propagation in fibers, drawing-induced defects in fibers. Research
facilities: Optical materials synthesis and preform fabrication
laboratories, fiber drawing facilities, comprehensive spectroscopy and
characterization labs. Continuing
education opportunities: Graduate courses are alternately taught in the
evening for employed students. Noncredit seminars and short courses are
offered periodically. Scholarships
and grants, graduate assistantships, postdoctoral fellowships: Graduate
research assistantships and postdoctoral positions are available for all
areas of fiber optic research.
