MF Lightwave, Inc. Introduces WI-4 Handheld 4 Wavelength Identifier

MF Lightwave, Inc. has just introduced a portable handheld Four wavelength identifier.  The WI-4 can identify wavelengths from 850nm to 1625nm.  The unit measures the output from a single-mode or multi-mode fiber simply by pointing it at the fiber or connector endface.

When a wavelength is detected the unit generates a tone along with a flashing LED indicating which wavelength has been detected. If multiple wavelengths are present as in WDM systems, more than one LED will light indicating the wavelengths.

The WI-4 offers a great advantage over other methods of indentification by locking onto the specific wavelength allowing the technician to identify which fibers are carrying what wavelength.

The WI-4 is especially useful when trying to identify the wavelength output out of coupler and WDM modules.  The non-contact measurement eliminates the possibility of damage to the connector endface and also allows identification to be made when the fiber or connector end is inaccessible.

The unit is extremely useful in CATV systems and during installations of new systems where fiber identification is critical.

Priced at $1295.00 the unit is the most cost effective option when multiple wavelengths need to be identified.
