ARTIS Software is pleased to announce the new release of OptSim 3.5
Now available for easy and quick download at http://www.artis-software.com/top/download_fr.html

OptSim is ARTIS Software's solution supporting the design and performance validation of the transmission level in a variety of cutting-edge applications such as (all-) optical networks, DWDM/OTDM amplified systems, ultra long-haul terrestrial and submarine systems, CATV/Digital/Analog systems.

This major product upgrade includes significant new features, among which:

AUTOMATIC MATLAB CO-SIMULATION
Integration with third-party tools is essential to enable users to re-use their own code and to go smoothly from simulation based on in-house made code to the analysis based on the "best-learning-curve" tool that Optsim is. With Opsim 3.5, just by a click, users can run MATLAB routines that fully interacts with OptSim data, either for pre- or for post-processing purposes. Basic libraries and routines are provided, along with the possibility for users to re-use their own proprietary MATLAB code, as well as to include brand-new MATLAB routines.

BEST-FIT LASER TOOLKIT
The toolkit has been conceived to simplify the simulation of commercial lasers in OptSim environment.

Usually, in laser data-sheets, only some behavioral parameters are reported. These parameters are not the physical parameters needed to characterize the device in order to use the accurate Rate-Equation mathematical model that allows proper simulation of laser behavior.

Therefore to do that, according to ordinary common practice, the user needs to translate behavioral parameters into physical parameters: an operation that can be quite challenging for a system-level user, since it is typically time-consuming and requires advanced technical know-how which is not so commonly available.

OptSim Best-fit Laser Toolkit takes data-sheet parameters as input and automatically outputs in OptSim environment the set of physical parameters required for an accurate laser simulation. The toolkit is extremely easy to use for those who simply wants to have a good mathematical model of a laser characterized by data-sheet parameters. On the other hand, a set of advanced features has also been implemented, for users who wish to go deeper into device details. The Best-fit Laser Toolkit also allows users to create their own library of lasers, by simply performing once the fitting operation for each type of laser.

COMPONENT LIBRARY EXTENSION
The wide OptSim Library has been enlarged to over 400 component models, to fully meet design requirements of cutting-edge optical communications technologies, such as the analysis of novel modulation formats.

All component models are ready for drag&drop into OptSim simulation set-up and open to further flexible subsystem modeling and characterization if needed.

VENDOR COMPONENT LIBRARY
This has also been extended further in OptSim 3.5 and is now encompassing models of most commonly used commercial components, among which lasers, fibers, transmitters and receivers.
