BFi OPTiLAS and Oluma sign distribution agreement

Evry, France, July 26th, 2002 BFi OPTiLAS, a technical distributor of specialty products and services, signed a Pan-European agreement for the distribution and the representation of the Oluma Inc. product portfolio.

Established in 2000, Oluma, Inc. is an optical component company that designs, markets, and manufactures a suite of high performance optical products based on Oluma’s patented platform. Oluma’s products feature exceptional function, integration, wide wavelength coverage, and near-zero insertion loss. These products focus on solving the critical power, signal, and spectrum management challenges faced by today’s network designers. Oluma’s products enable rapid migration from discrete solutions to integrated components.

Oluma's technology includes the Optical Signal Sensor (OSS) that combines the functions of a tap coupler and an InGaAs photodiode with near-zero insertion loss. The Optical Signal Sensor design maintains the signal in the core of the fiber, creating a signal path that is free from failure-prone components and coatings. For those customers needing higher tap response, the High Efficiency Optical Signal Sensor (HSS) is also available. The OSS and HSS are also offered integrated with all necessary electronics into the company’s Power Monitor Module that will simplify and shorten the design-in cycle for the Oluma power monitor by providing complete electronics amplification circuitry.
