Tsunami Introduces New Miniature Passive CWDM Modules

4-Channel and 8-Channel Coarse WDM Multiplexers and Demultiplexers

Mountain View, CA – August 12, 2002 – Tsunami, a Stratos Lightwave company, focused on developing innovative cost-effective components and modules for optical communications networks, introduces its new Mini-MetroChannel 4-Channel and 8-Channel CWDM passive Multiplexer and Demultiplexer Modules.

The Mini-MetroChannel CWDM modules are designed for integration into metro and access communication networks.  Based on a highly integrated design, the modules measure approximately 45 x 28 x 9 mm (1.8 x 1.1 x 0.4 in).  The 4-channel and 8-channel modules feature an extremely low insertion loss of 1.0 dB and 1.5 dB respectively, while both exhibit high channel isolation.  Designed to work with uncooled lasers having wavelengths spaced 20 nm apart, the modules’ performance is independent of protocol and data rate.

Tsunami's Mini-MetroChannel modules provide an ideal balance of price and performance for multiplexing and demultiplexing in metro and access optical networks.
