Technologies, Inc. has announced the release the industry's first
automated fiber preparation unit - The AutoPrep - automated strip, clean
and cleave in an amazing 9 seconds. At the core of the AutoPrep unit is
the patented new burst stripping technology. Burst
stripping is a break-through process for stripping and cleaning polymer
coatings from an optical fiber. By directing a single high velocity burst
of super heated air directly at the fiber's coating, it is instantly
vaporized and stripped while becoming perfectly cleaned without any
incurring any damage to the fiber's bare glass. The delicate process of
stripping, cleaning and cleaving a fiber is accomplished by the AutoPrep
in a remarkable 9-second cycle time. As
high strength is a very critical factor in the service life of most
optical components, the new burst technology process has shown no
appreciable loss in fiber strength. Testing has proven that thousands of
consecutive burst strips yield 99.9% at pristine fiber strength
(approximately 750 Kpsi). The AutoPrep unit comes in a small bench top
design and is able to accommodate all different fiber types and fiber
diameters (80um to 900um coatings). It is designed to be 100% compatible
