Tamar Technology advances Fiber and Connector inspection with the FOInspect^TM Phase shifting interferometer and defect detection system

October 17, 2002 – Thousand Oaks, CA – Tamar Technology is pleased to introduce the FOInspect^TM, to the fiber optics and connector manufacturing marketplace. FOInspect^TM is an advanced phase shifting interferometer combined with a defect detection optical system.  It is unique in that the system replaces 2 bulky traditional tools for sample testing: a single unit that replaces larger and more expensive tools.  Another key feature is that the unit has a slim profile, making it ideal for integration into automated systems or other OEM applications, including inspecting fibers on the lapping fixture without removal. 

FOInspect^TM utilizes advanced signal processing vision metrology software for outstanding repeatability and sub-pixel resolution. FOInspect^TM measures radius of curvature, apex offset, fiber height / undercut, fiber roughness, ferrule roughness, as well as it detects and measures scratches, chips and pits, and contamination on fibers and fiber connectors.  It provides a 3-D map and a defect map, along with measured results and statistics, with the option to export the data if required.
