Lightwaves 2020 Unveils its Ultra Compact (Coin-Size) EDFA

Milpitas, CA  - Lightwaves 2020, an innovative leader in the design and manufacture of fiber optic components and subsystems, announces today a new addition to its low cost EDFA product family, the ultra-compact EDFA Gain Block.

Featured with the most compact foot print (30×50×8 mm) ever available in the market, this new EDFA is designed for applications such as single channel or banded channel amplification. Using cooler-less pump and other specially designed integrated components, the ultra-compact EDFA can offer optical performances similar to those of standard MSA products, whilst still benefiting the system integrator with much smaller foot print (even smaller than those of EDWAs). More important, this new EDFA Gain Block is very low cost in nature due to its simple and compact optical design, which makes it an ideal solution for metro and access networks.
